1969 – 2006
Blaisdale Montessori School was
founded in 1969 by Mrs. Eleanor Wilson. Mrs. Wilson was one of
the original founding members of the C.C.M.A. (Canadian Council of
Montessori Administrators). Blaisdale
Montessori School
has grown to be one of the biggest, most established and reputable school
in Canada.
The school began on the corner of Blaisdale
Road and Kecala Road in Scarborough and has
grown to include 7 campuses throughout Pickering,
Scarborough, Ajax and Whitby (East of Toronto).
Among the goals for which we strive are: a sound basis and a healthy attitude for
life-long learning, self discipline, self-respect, independence, getting
along with others while developing a social conscience, initiative, ability
to concentrate, self-confidence, spiritual growth and a respect for the
environment. In regard to discipline, we use the Adlerian approach which is
based on respect for the child, and encourages the concept of self worth.
Announcements/Updates
2007 is
the 100 year anniversary of Montessori.
In honor of this special even 150 Montessorians were picked to
visit the Pope in Rome. Mrs. Wilson who is the founder and
owner of Blaisdale Montessori School
was one of the special people who was chosen to represent Blaisdale Montessori
School at the Vatican. She will be meeting the Pope in early
January 2007. She will also be
visiting San Lorenzo Italy
where the very first Montessori
School was
started.
Blaisdale Montessori
School has busing to our Ajax and Pickering Campuses through
Stock Transportation Ltd. Stock Transportation is providing a
bus that will be exclusive to Blaisdale

. The tentative times are from 7:30 - 8:10 a.m. for Pickering and 8:20-8:45 a.m. for Ajax . then 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. for Ajax and 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. for Pickering. The bus company
for Scarborough is at (416) 720-2796.
There is availability in most classes for
September. The school will send a
starting package out to all new Casa /Elementary children at the end of
August. Toddler parents will get a
phone call to confirm their starting date.
The
school is open and accepts applications for new students all year around
(12 months of the year) provided there is space. Applications for September 06 are now
being accepted. A
$200.00/$100.00 registration fee is all that is needed to guarantee a
space.
Grants and Subsidies
There is $100.00 per month available for families who have
children 6 years and under. Please check www.universalchildcare.ca
for details.
Children First: Trust fund in Canada to
help families improve their educational choices. This fund pays up to 50% tuition, up
to an annual maximum of $4,000.
